20 Random Things About Me . . . tag, you're it!

1. I grew up in Mediapolis, IA (not Minneapolis . . ) and was quite the farmgirl with quite the 4-H background . . . and yes, I showed piggies every year . . . and actually thought I would miss it when I graduated!
2. I was a fair queen as a result of the 4-H thing . . . never did care for that queen wave though!
3. I used to play flute/piccolo, guitar, and was drum major of the band. I was also very busy in speech/drama and vocal music.
4. I have a black belt in taekwondo . . . bet a lot of you didn’t know THAT one! J My siblings and mom were also involved in the sport.
5. I won a $20,000 Coca-Cola Scholarship during my senior year of college (probably my proudest achievement!). It is the only reason I was able to afford my alma mater (Central College) and I’m thankful for it every day!
6. I have a teaching degree . . . and am not using it . . . though there is a very good chance I will get the opportunity to do so when my daughter needs homeschooling. Due to her sensitivity to germs, she will need to be homeschooled.
7. I lived in London for one semester . . . AWESOME experience and wish I stayed a year! I worked for a Member of Parliament, attended classes, and had way too much fun!
8. After I graduated, I was an insurance account executive in Des Moines (company car and all!)
9. I accepted a job in study abroad at Central College the day after Travis proposed . . . meaning I was getting married and moving back to Pella . . .
10. I am mommy to three kiddos … though we are still VERY amazed that it was possible to get pregnant with the third one (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, ask me . . . all I gotta say is that God REALLY thought we should have another baby despite the precautions!)
11. I was unthawing our cattle water with a hairdryer while I was in labor with Treyton . . . hey, he could have been born in a manger and all . . . afterall, he was born on Christmas Eve!
12. After the birth of Treyton, I decided I couldn’t travel so much and be apart from my newborn, so I worked in a photo studio (photography had always been a passion for me) . . . and then got the guts to open my own (www.sarahsstudio.photoreflect.com) Best decision my husband ever helped push me to make! Thanks for then nudge!
13. I love to scrapbook but don’t have the time to do it . . .
14. I have a very sensitive heart . . . can cry pretty easily . . . I got pulled over last week for going 35 in a 25 and yup, wanted to cry!
15. My fears . . . messing up (as a result of my tendency to be a perfectionist) and losing my daughter or anyone in my family!
16. My kids are my greatest treasure . . . I love them dearly and my daughter will always be my hero for all she endures so gracefully (www.caringbridge.org/visit/stellaturnbullturnbull)
17. Still can’t believe that my husband and I are 1:1600 couples who BOTH are the unlucky 1:40 who carry the genetic disposition for Spinal Muscular Atrophy . . . and is the reason our sweet Stella fights it every day
18. One of the greatest things to happen is that my daughter is going to turn two years of age . . . never dreamed we would see that day but by the grace of God, she may outlive me afterall! J
19. Thankful that I have an awesome GOD who has been with me through every valley!
20. Can’t believe I am actually working on this list at 1:00 am when I could be getting the precious sleep that I LOVE!
